Two big questions present themselves to every parent in one form or another: “What kind of human being do I want my child to become?” and “How can I go about making it happen?”

Be comforted in the knowledge we are here to help. The Academy’s purpose is to care for children and encourage development of the whole child, physically, mentally, socially, emotionally and spiritually, giving parents the support they need.

The Academy is excited about the 2014-2015 year. Our goal is to provide our parents information at their finger tips. The newsletter is a general view of what is happening at the Academy. Keep a look out for your child’s classroom information provided by the teacher, office, and bulletin board.

Academy School Closed: September 1st (Labor Day)

Important Information

Group

Breakfast begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 8:30 AM. Please make sure your child is here no later than 8:15, if he/she is to have breakfast at school. If you choose not to feed your child at this time, you must feed them before they come into class.

Cubby space is limited, so bring only one small blanket and small pillow for naptime. No sleeping bag.

Extra clothes are a must! If your child has a potty accident and does not have a change of clothes you will have to leave work and bring clothes immediately. The Academy does not provide extra clothes.

9/10 – Open House: Meet your child’s teacher and explore their classroom. Dinner will be provided.
9/15 – Picture Day
9/16 – Creative Kitchen: Cooking in the classroom $2 (Turtles, Bee’s, Pre-K only)
9/23 – Spring Valley Park (Bee’s, Pre-K only)
9/26 – Pajama Day & Family Night Movie w/ Dinner at 6:30 PM

10/1 – Wednesdays Family Feast (Frogs, Ducks & Bunnies)
10/13 – SBISD Closed (Academy is open for afterschoolers)
10/23-24 – SBISD Closed (Academy is open for afterschoolers)
11/26 – Academy Closes at 3:00
11/27-28 – Academy Closed (Thanksgiving)

Connections

The Academy was started in 70’s to help families in the community with God’s loving hands, touch lives with the love of Jesus Christ and support families through ministry. The Academy has grown into a place where children thrive. While the vision has not changed, the church has made the Academy its number one local mission. In doing so the congregation has created a group of church members who are also Academy parents. The group’s mission is to bring together families through Family Dinner Nights on Wednesday and Movie Nights. We are so excited to continue this venture together. All information will be included on the Academy calendar, and flyers will be sent home detailing the events. The first big event is Friday, September 26 – Family Night Movie & Dinner 6:30pm.

“Wee” Facts, Tips and Advice

Affection is the most satisfying reward a child can receive. It costs nothing, is readily available, and provides great encouragement.
